Established in 1995 by Jim & Jo Smith, The Crewneck Ceilidh Band
were originally formed with a view to providing fun music for dancing
at Barn Dances & Ceilidhs. Since those early days the original
musicians, friends playing together in traditional pub sessions have
gained a wealth of experience and knowledge, allowing the band to take
on more complex events and corprate work..
We appreciate that choosing the right band for your big day is an
important consideration and we feel our mixture of experience,
professionalism and musical ability make us stand out from the crowd.
The presence of live musicians, especially a four-piece band, is
essential in making a memorable ceilidh.
The majority of our engagements are wedding receptions, most of which
are in central South East England, although we do travel throughout the
UK and abroad.
Most of our work comes through word of mouth from guests at functions or from recommendations from hotels where we perform
Generally a full evening would be a three hour ceilidh, although
occasionally the client prefers to finish the evening with a disco, and
we finish a little earlier. We like to start with a waltz, with the
bride and groom on the floor, giving guests the opportunity to get some
photos. The rest of the bridal party are then encouraged onto the floor
before we get everyone up and put the ceilidh into full swing. The
bride & groom can then relax as we take care of the rest of the
evening. We would normally take a short break halfway through the
night, when tea/coffee or a buffet can be served.
Not only is a Ceilidh dance good fun at a wedding, it is probably the
best way of mixing the bride's and groom's family and friends together.
Because Ceilidh dances have steps you can follow, everyone can join in.
In addition, we clearly 'call' or talk through all the dances where
people are maybe a little unsure. |
